About Pacific City

Pacific City, at the base of Cape Kiwanda, is one of Oregon's most dramatic surf settings. The beach break produces powerful, shifting peaks in the shadow of a massive sandstone headland, with Haystack Rock (the other one, not Cannon Beach's) rising offshore. The wave can be heavy and punchy, especially in the shore dump, but rewards aggressive surfing. Dory boats launch directly through the surf here, adding a uniquely Oregon element to the lineup. The Pelican Pub overlooking the break is the best post-surf beer spot on the coast.
