South Carolina offers mellow beach breaks along the Grand Strand and around Charleston. Folly Beach near Charleston is the state's most dedicated surf spot with a consistent local scene. The Grand Strand beaches from Cherry Grove to Pawleys Island pick up south swells during hurricane season.
